Cleaning a nursery or children's classroom is a fundamentally different task from cleaning the rest of a church building. Children touch surfaces constantly and bring hands to faces, eyes, and mouths far more than adults do. The result is faster transmission of common illness through a congregation's youngest members — and their families — if these spaces aren't handled with the right standards.

Why children's spaces are higher risk

Shared toys, changing surfaces, and close physical contact between children create conditions for illness to spread quickly through a nursery or Sunday school classroom. A cleaning approach that treats these spaces the same as an adult meeting room misses the point.

Product safety first

A key differentiator for nursery and classroom cleaning is product selection. Ask your provider whether they use low-fragrance, child-safe cleaning products in these specific spaces, and whether their disinfectants require extended ventilation time before children re-enter — important for spaces used again the very next morning.
